Keurig B40 Review

Welcome to this review of the Keurig B40 gourmet coffee maker. During the course of this review, I will be covering the main things that people should know before making a decision on buying this coffee maker.

Firstly we should discuss who this coffee maker is perhaps not ideal for. Some reviewers of this machine have said that when you make coffee using the large setting, which is 7.25oz and Keurig's regular "K-cup", you get weak coffee. This I would have to say is not true. What you do get however is coffee that is perhaps not the fullest or the richest in flavor, but most definitely a tasty cup.

Should you wish to make the coffee stronger, using one of Keurig's "extra bold K-cups" should make the coffee strong enough for the vast majority of coffee lovers.

Some people might not like the fact that you have to pay somewhere in the vicinity of 40 to 50 cents for each K-cup. I don't know about you, but I have absolutely no qualms about paying 40 cents for something I could pay 10 times as much for at a coffee shop.

If however, you are not content with using the K-cups, Keurig have released their "My K-cup reusable filter", so you can use you own coffee grounds and save yourself a few pence. It is also possible when using the reusable filter to create some very strong coffee, so this might be the perfect option if you want your own blend, potentially save some cash over buying the K-cups and if you want your coffee as strong as possible.

The Keurig B40 is as easy to clean as it is to operate, there is very little here that will have you running to the user manual and pulling your hair out in frustration.

Moving on to who this coffee maker is really designed for. This machine is almost definitely designed for the user who wants a quality cup of coffee every time, with little fuss or hassle. The Keurig really does produce an outstanding cup of coffee, once you have figured out the ideal strength for yourself. It might be worth investing in some regular k-cups as well as the stronger "extra bold" k-cups and the different cup sizes (the original version of this machine only has 1 cup size, but the latest model has 2 cup sizes) to see which flavor suits you like best.

There have been some comments regarding the noise the pumping mechanism makes during the brewing cycle, but I think this is hit and miss, some machines seem to have a noise which is a little too loud while others (the majority let's be fair) are much quieter. It should be noted that more recent models, such as the Keurig B50 and B60 seem to have less of a noise issue during brewing, but they are $50 %u2013 $100 more expensive than this model.

The biggest differences between this machine and the B50 say are the features. The B50 comes with more cup sizes and it is also possible to program the machine to make coffee at a certain time. To be honest, considering that the B40 can brew a cup of coffee in under 30 seconds, it hardly seems worth paying the extra 50 bucks for the programming feature. I could understand if somebody wanted one of the later models for the larger cup sizes however, if you are brewing into a large coffee mug, this machine could possibly require 2 or even 3 brew cycles to fill the mug.

So to sum up, this machine is ideal, if you don't drink from a huge mug of coffee (that's more than the 7.25oz we have here) and if you are after a cup of coffee that is truly as good as you might get in a coffee shop for a fraction of the price
